There are two ways in which an alarm home security system can be constructed. The first method is to make an alarm system, right from the design to the components. The second method is to design the system only with the components purchased from the market.
Pre-Requisite
For both the methods, a major pre-requisite is to survey your home. Check the internal and external portions of your house and find out areas that are venerable. Effective planning will help you in designing the right alarm system.
Making an Alarm Home Security System
The first step in creating an alarm system is to get insulated wires plus a battery and clip (1.5 volt). Next, the insulation from the tips of two insulated wires should be removed and they should be connected with the battery – positive and negative terminal. Repeat the process to connect wires to an electric alarm buzzer (1.5 volts).
Both the pieces – battery clip and buzzer – should now be glued to a plywood (4*12inches). A wooden alligator should be inserted to this design by attaching the loose end of the wire attached to the positive terminal of our battery clip. Connect this to the top jaw. The bottom jaw should be used for the wire with the positive terminal of the alarm buzzer. Make sure that a contact is established between the metallic portions of the wires when the jaw is closed.
To disconnect the contact between the wires, a large cardboard – bigger than the alligator clip, should be placed between the jaws. Now create a mechanism to pull this cardboard out of the jaws. You can tie a strong string in a hole in the centre of the cardboard for this purpose. Finish the alarm by connecting the clip to the cardboard as well. You can use glue or tape for this.
Now the alarm home security system is ready to be installed. Put it on either a door or a window and connect the loose end of the string to the door or window frame such that the cardboard between the alligator clip should get pulled as the door and window opens. The removal of the central cardboard will bring contact between the two wires on the alligator clip and send electric signal to the buzzer to ring. You can create multiple alarms to secure various parts of your home.
Using a Wireless Alarm System to Protect Your Home
In case you do not want to get into the designing of an alarm, you can buy alarm systems – with or without motion sensors, from the market and install them at your door and windows. A closed circuit alarm system is the most basic form of security that you can use. Install these systems, as per the instructions manual, on the doors, windows and other areas selected by you. The wireless categories in the alarms are the easiest to install.
