Home security has existed from the time mankind has been living in homes. It may not have been as developed as it is today, but it has been around for a long time. From just a simple thing as a fence, or animals stationed at the doorway, security for homes is old.
Why Home Security?
People have this misconception that their home is not secure only when they are not there, but studies have shown that most crimes take place when the owners of the house are present in the house. Burglars, it seems, have either become bolder or stupider. They are not just content with stealing valuables, now they want to even hurt the home owners for no apparent reasons.
The best protection against these intruders is to have a good security system in place. Security has become so much more important in today’s world. Thankfully, there are good security systems available for particular needs for all.
Regarding security for homes, the needs can differ immensely. Some people may need protection from intruders because of the neighborhood they live in, or some need 24 hours surveillance around their home. Sometimes, security surveillance is required inside homes too; the newspapers are full of reports about nannies and nurses assaulting children or bed-ridden old patients. Many of these criminals are caught by installing hidden cameras to catch them in the act. So the need for security is very real, especially from the people who have access to the inside of the house.
The perpetrators, mostly, are armed; it would not be a bad choice to be armed yourself. The security needs to be high-tech, and functional enough to alert you and the cops before these armed thieves get inside your homes. In case, the intruders manage to slip away, the system should have recorded good quality of footage, from which the police should be able to decipher their identities, or make an accurate profile of them. So they can be caught, and further crime is prevented.
Home security systems should have all the works. Surveillance cameras, alarms, password protected systems, motion sensors. All of this completes a fully packaged system, which will take you a few steps closer to complete security.
Studies have shown that having security system in place have proved to be effective crime deterrents. Crimes rates have dropped in neighborhoods having good security measures in place. And speaking of neighborhoods, your local neighborhood community can also play a big part in ramping of the security quotient.
The community can organize something that is called neighborhood watch. Neighbors take turns in keeping surveillance over the neighborhood, and quickly alert the police about any suspicious activity. This community drive has also proved to be effective in reducing crime.
Though, all of this might seem a bit expensive, but money does not matter when it comes to your family security.
